Description:

The Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, University of Malaya, a vibrant
faculty with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research,
invites applications for full-time teaching positions as Senior Lecturers. 
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University

Specialty Areas: 

- Semiotics,
- Language Education (English),
- Sociolinguistics (English/Malay),
- Pragmatics (English/Malay),
- Critical Discourse Studies (English),
- Ethnolinguistics,  
- General or Theoretical Linguistics in English/Malay/Chinese/Tamil languages
(eg. Morphology, Syntax, Semantics, Phonetics & Phonology, Language &
Cognition, Systemic Functional Linguistics etc.),  
- Translation Studies (in one or more of the following - English-Malay;
Chinese-English; Tamil-English; Arabic-Malay/English);
- Discourse Analysis (Arabic),
- Balaghah and Pragmatics (Arabic),
- Arabic for Specific Purpose (IT/ Tourism/ Management/ Business)
- Language Teaching and Education (French, German, Spanish, Italian)
- Other related areas in the fields of languages and linguistics

Applicants should have:

- A Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics or Theoretical Linguistics, or a related
field in any of the languages stated above
- A strong commitment to teaching, with teaching experience at the tertiary
level
- A good scholarly publications record with significant contribution to
knowledge 
- Knowledge of curriculum planning and materials development.

 Successful applicants are expected to:

- Teach various courses at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate level(s)
- Work in teams to develop undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses
- Engage in research which supports linguistics as well as language teaching
and learning at the higher education level
- Supervise undergraduate research projects and/or postgraduate
dissertations/theses on an array of topics within linguistics
- Demonstrate commitment to using online course management systems and
software applications related to language teaching
- Contribute expertise through involvement in Language and Linguistics related
projects and activities
- Engage in on-going commitment to professional development, as well as engage
in active participation in the Faculty, and contribute towards a positive work
environment.
