Meeting Description:

Since 1998, Birmingham English Language Postgraduate Conference (BELP) has
been held annually at the University of Birmingham, providing postgraduate
students with a friendly and supportive environment in which to present their
research and network with peers.

The theme of this year’s conference is: “Pushing Boundaries: Towards New
Directions in Linguistics”

We are proud to present our plenary speakers:

- Prof. Andrew Kehoe (Birmingham City University)
- Dr. Joe Bennett (University of Birmingham)


Call for Papers:

We are very happy to announce that we are now accepting abstract submissions
for BELP 2016. We welcome contributions that, in line with the theme of the
conference, point towards new directions in research for English Language and
Applied Linguistics, whether theoretical or methodological. However, we want
to assure all applicants that we are employing a broad and inclusive approach
to selecting abstracts that explore various areas in the field of English
Language and Linguistics and related disciplines (such as Sociology,
Education, Psychology). Students on Taught and Research Postgraduate Courses
are encouraged to apply. 

Key Dates
- 22 February 2016 (5pm) – deadline for abstract submission
- 20 March 2016 – notification of successful submission
- 31 March 2016 – registration deadline
 
We invite submissions for oral presentations (20 minutes, plus 5 minutes for
questions). Abstracts should be no longer that 250 words and should include
the title of your paper, five keywords, your name, institution, research
status (PhD, MPhil, MRes, MA), and email address.

We are also actively seeking students willing to chair the student
