Description:

The Department of Foreign Language at Sam Houston State University invites
applications for a full-time (3/3 load), tenure-track position at the rank of
Assistant Professor. We seek a dynamic professor who is eager to build the
German Studies program through an innovative vision consisting of curricular
development and interdisciplinary collaboration across colleges. The teaching
load is 6 courses annually (3/3) and consists of teaching German language,
literature and culture courses at the elementary, intermediate and advanced
levels. Minimum qualifications: PhD in Germanic Languages and documented
specialization in language pedagogy; commitment to undergraduate education and
to attracting students from traditionally underrepresented populations;
demonstrated excellence in language teaching at all levels; experience in
teaching with technology; some familiarity with ACTFL standards; experience
using OPI scales and willingness to lead a study abroad program in a
German-speaking country.

Degree Requirements: Ph.D in Germanic Languages

Experience Requirements: 

- Documented Specialization in Language Pedagogy
- Demonstrated excellence in language teaching at all levels
- Experience in teaching with technology
- Familiarity with ACTFL standards
- Experience using OPI scales
- Experience in recruiting students to program and degree

Other Requirements: Willingness to lead a Study Abroad program in a
German-speaking country
