A message from Dick Hudson:
As many of you will have heard already, John Holm died on 28 December 2015. I
supervised his PhD, so I knew him well, and can only confirm all the positive
things in the obituaries in the New York Times

(http://languagelog.ldc.upenn.edu/nll/?p=23361#more-23361). He was an
intellectual giant, but also one of the most impressive people I've ever met.
