Meeting Description:

A linguistic session within a conference dealing with the study of the
Medieval Period (approximately AD 450-1500).  Papers can be on any aspect of
any language spoken during this period  using literary texts as at least part
of the data.

The Society has been in existence since 1996, with its main focus to bring
scholars interested in the linguistics of medieval languages to the annual
Kalamazoo Congresses, whether the scholars identify as medievalists or
historical linguists, and to establish a permanent place for important
linguistic scholarship within the scope of fields presented at the Congress.


Call for Papers: 

The Society for Medieval Languages and Linguistics is issuing a call for
papers for their sponsored session at the 52nd International Congress on
Medieval Studies, to be held at Western Michigan University, from May 14 to
17, 2017. 

The title of the session is:
For the Love of Linguistics and Literature: Papers on the Medieval Period

The papers can deal with any aspect of the linguistics of any language
spoken/written between 450 C.E. and 1500 C. E. and should include data from
literary texts as well as other sources. A session is 90 minutes long and
usually comprises three or four papers. Since our session qualifies as a
Sponsored Session, abstracts should be submitted to the President of the
Society, who is the contact person for this session:
