Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Professor (adjunkt) in
English Linguistics with a specialisation in language variation and change.
The position is at the Department of English, which is part of the School of
Communication and Culture, and involves research, teaching and supervision
duties in English linguistics.

The assistant professorship is a full-time, three-year position, and, subject
to appropriate funding, there will be an opportunity to apply for a subsequent
associate professorship. The appointment is from 2 January 2017, or as soon as
possible thereafter.

The position

We are looking for a dedicated colleague who has research experience in
English language variation and change (regional, social, and historical) and
who is qualified to teach in our obligatory courses in English linguistics, as
well as to teach specialised courses in English language variation and change
at BA and MA level.

A position as assistant professor includes tasks and responsibilities in all

talent development and knowledge exchange. Participation in the daily life of
the department is a high priority, and we emphasise the importance of good
working relationships, both among colleagues and with our students.

All teaching at the Department of English is in English. An applicant
appointed who is not a speaker of Danish is required, within two years of
commencing the appointment, to acquire sufficient Danish to participate fully

interdisciplinary collaboration, participation in joint research projects and
the attraction of external research funding.

All interested candidates are encouraged to apply, regardless of their

also collect donations via eLinguistics Foundation, a registered 501(c)
Non Profit organization with the federal tax number 45-4211155. Either
way, the donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your
state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that
they will match any gift you make to a non-profit organization.
Normally this entails your contacting your human resources department
and sending us a form that the Indiana University Foundation fills in
and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative
procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.
