Meeting Description:

The International Conference on Postgraduate Academic Writing, Networking and
Mentoring in the Humanities (PAWNAM), the first of its kind in Nigeria, is
designed to ensure the continuity of knowledge development, expansion and
transfer from seasoned senior academics to upcoming junior ones and to create
a platform for the generation, development, and sharing of ideas among budding
scholars under the tutelage of specialists in the various sub-fields of the
Humanities: Philosophy, Linguistics, Language Studies, Mass Communication,
Religious Studies, etc, where scholarship is declining, or needs to be
enkindled and sustained. The conference will provide a platform for
postgraduates from different universities to (i) share research experiences,
(ii) discuss research problems, (iii) present research work/findings, (iv)
acquaint themselves with new ideas/theories/methodologies and (v) acquire the
skills of academic writing from experienced/senior academics in their
respective fields.

Accordingly, the Humanities have been sub-divided into three broad areas: (i)
Linguistics, Theatre Language and Literary Studies, (ii) History, Philosophy,
International/Diplomacy, Cultural and Religious Studies, and (iii) Mass
Communication, Theater and Creative Arts. For this first meeting of the
conference, seasoned local and international scholars will critically examine
and discuss research papers on Linguistics, Language and Literary Studies, and
mentor the contributors and participants.

Conference Date: 3 -5 October, 2016.

Registration Fees: N20,000

Methods of Payment:
Interested Postgraduate students and scholars may pay in two instalments of
₦10,000 between now and the end of August, 2016 into these account numbers or

Call for Papers: 

Full papers/drafts and thesis drafts are hereby invited from interested
Masters, PhD candidates, junior academics, fresh PhD holders in the fields of
Linguistics, Language and Literary Studies. A work at any stage of research
may be submitted for the conference. Papers should be between 3,000 and 10,000
words and should have the following structure: title, author(s), abstract,
introduction, methodology, theoretical framework (where necessary),
discussion/analysis/interpretation/result, findings and conclusion. 

The style sheet preferred is either the American Psychology Association (APA)
or The Modern Language Association (MLA) Manual of Writing. Font size should
be 10‘Lucida Sans Unicode’, 1.5 and double spacing. Interested participants in
this innovative conference should send their submission via email to
pawnam2016 at gmail.com on or before 10 August, 2016.
