Required Language(s): French (fra)

Description:

Within research projects in linguistics (and more specifically in phonetics,
phonology and prosody) and in computer science (more precisely in speech
synthesis), a PhD position is open in ''Prosodic description and modeling
according to phonostyle for an application in speech synthesis''.

The Phd will be supervised by a linguist (Elisabeth Delais-Roussarie, UMR
7110-LLF, Université Paris-Diderot) and Damien Lolive, IRISA, Université
Rennes) and will be achieved primarily in one of the two institutions
(Université Paris-Diderot and Université de Rennes) depending on the candidate
profile.

More information on the Phd subject is available at the following address:
https://www-expression.irisa.fr/files/2016/06/phd_caracterisation_generation_l
ivre_audio.pdf

The ideal Ph.D student should have a master (or equivalent) degree in one of
the following areas: linguistics, applied linguistics, phonetics and
phonology, engineering, or computer science. Given the nature of the project
(on French prosody and TTS), the position would suit someone with a good
knowledge of French.

All applications received by Wednesday 6 July will be considered with a view
to the successful candidate starting in the autumn 2016.

For further information, don’t hesitate to contact Elisabeth Delais-Roussarie
(Elisabeth.roussarie at wanadoo.fr) and/or Damien Lolive
(Damien.lolive at irisa.fr).

To apply to this position please send to Damien Lolive and Elisabeth
Delais-Roussarie a CV, a cover letter and an academic record sheet.

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Indiana University and
as such can receive donations through Indiana University Foundation. We
also collect donations via eLinguistics Foundation, a registered 501(c)
Non Profit organization with the federal tax number 45-4211155. Either
way, the donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your
state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the
IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that
they will match any gift you make to a non-profit organization.
Normally this entails your contacting your human resources department
and sending us a form that the Indiana University Foundation fills in
and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative
procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
