Description:

The Faculty of Arts and Philosophy has a vacancy for a lectureship, starting
from 1 October 2016. The post is a full-time  position as lecturer in the
tenure track system, in the Department of Translation, Interpreting and
Communication, with duties including academic teaching, academic research and
carrying out academic services in the discipline of terminology and lexical
semantics.

Profile

Candidates:

- Should hold a PhD;
- Are required to have at least two years of postdoctoral experience at the
time of appointment;
- Master English at C1 level of the CEFR (Common European Framework);
- Have high-level academic research experience in the field of terminology and
lexical semantics, which can be corroborated by recent publications in
international academic journals and proceedings of leading conferences which
rely on experts for the evaluation of submitted papers;
- Should have demonstrable expertise in research into terminology and lexical
semantics in line with research group LT3;
- Should possess the necessary didactic skills to help university students
develop academic competences;
- Should be able to submit demonstrable experience in teaching terminology
and/or lexical semantics.

In addition:

- Having positively evaluated experience in offering and/or organising
academic training is recommended;
- Involvement in the professionalization of education will be considered an
asset;
- Having a command of the Dutch language will be considered an asset

A full-time position at the entry level of Assistant Professor entails a
five-year temporary appointment in a Tenure Track system. If the university
board positively evaluates the performance of the person involved, the
position may lead to a permanent position as Associate Professor.

The University Board can decide to change the appointment into a tenured
position, either immediately or in due course, based upon similar academic
performances in another university or research institution.

Applicants are required to participate in the basic training for Assistant
Professor.

Ghent University provides free Dutch and English language courses to
professors who are non-native speakers in order to support them in their
teaching activities.

Professor and Associate Professor is linked to the timely achievement of
