LESLLA welcomes presentation proposals for the 12th annual conference to be
held in Granada, Spain, September 8-10, 2016. We invite presentations on
topics related to low educated second language and literacy acquisition
(LESLLA) learners, including cognitive and sociocultural views on the process
of learning a second (or additional) language for adult learners with limited
literacy in their first language.

We seek proposals that reflect diverse perspectives on language and literacy
development for LESLLA learners from adult literacy researchers,
practitioners, and applied linguists committed to the advancement of LESLLA
research, practice, and policy. Presentations will include a mix of
theoretical and practice-based themes, as well as panel discussions and poster
sessions.

Proposals should link to literacy and language learning and teaching, teacher
learning, or policies that play a role in the LESLLA field. Suggested topics
may include but are not limited to:

- Development of second language and literacy skills by adult immigrants with
little or no schooling
- Literacy research
- Demonstration and discussion of instructional methods, techniques, and
strategies, as well as educational technologies, materials, and assessment
- Literacy in learners’ native language(s)
- Youth literacy
- Health literacy
- In and out-of-school literacy practices
- Literacy and identity
- Teacher education and professionalization
- Policy issues

be considered. For more information about LESLLA: www.leslla.org.

should submit the proposal, but all of the presenters should register for the
conference. If more than 5 people would like to submit a proposal, the lead
presenter should contact the Conference organizers at leslla2016 at ugr.es to
