Description:

Fully funded PhD level studentship. 

Project Title: Empirical Sociolinguistics: An investigation of variation
and/or change in English

We invite proposals on any relevant area of sociolinguistics, including, but
not restricted to:

i) Patterns of (socio)linguistic variation and change in varieties of English 
ii) Language attitudes/folklinguistics
iii) Sociolinguistic variation
iv) Historical (socio)linguistics and language change
v) Social psychology of language
vi) Superdiversity and multilingualism

The studentship includes a full stipend, paid for three years at RCUK rates
(in 2016/17 this is £14,296 pa) and fees (Home/EU £4,350 / International
£13,000).

It is expected that candidates will have a background in linguistics or
psychology or in another relevant area.
