Subject: English Theory - New Wiki Site

English Theory is a newly launched wiki site created for bringing English and
Linguistics academics together with post-16 school teachers of English,
exploring and developing approaches to text analysis and language theory, the
intention being to enable more productive collaborations between universities
and post-16 teachers in the English and Linguistics subject area. Peter
Stockwell at Nottingham University, Jonathan Culpeper at Lancaster University
and Dan McIntyre at Huddersfield University have expressed support for the
idea. The site should also help to move forward academic research into all
aspects of theory relating to English Language and Literature. It is intended
as a collaborative knowledge repository, and a repository for working examples
of text analysis. Write an entry on what you know about a theory, or just
offer an example of how a particular theory can be used.

Membership is free for university staff and research students, and there will
be a small charge for school teachers to be members and take part in the
collaboration. Any university academic staff members or research students who
are interested in trying out the site should email Mark Boardman the site
owner, from a university email address and stating your post title or research
area, at m.boardman at hud.ac.uk. You will then be sent a username and password,
along with details of how to access the site.
