GRAMMAR, APPLIED LINGUISTICS AND SOCIETY: 
Call For Papers: A Festschrift for Wale Osisanwo

Call for Papers:
Prof. Wale Osisanwo, an icon of the Nigerian linguistics scholarship, who has
significantly impacted on the academic sphere of the Nigerian public, will
turn 70 in June, 2016.  For his huge contribution to the research and pedagogy
in grammar and applied linguistics, including discourse analysis, pragmatics
and the sociolinguistics of Nigerian English, Prof. Wale Osisanwo deserves a
compendium in which his research foci are developed by seasoned scholars to
commemorate his scholarship.  To this end, the book, Grammar, Applied
Linguistics and Society has been proposed.  The book, designed as a collection
of essays, will address theoretical and empirical issues in traditions of
grammar, language teaching and learning, theories and applications of
discoursal and pragmatic engagements and the acclimatization of English to the
Nigerian environment. Contributions, which may be theoretic or empirical, are
therefore invited from scholars in the following areas (and more) that define
the research scope of Professor Wale Osisanwo:

- Grammatical/syntactic theories
- Applied linguistics: theories and application
- Grammar/syntax and language teaching
- Grammar/syntax and language learning 
- ICT and the pedagogy of grammar/syntax
- ICT and the pedagogy of applied linguistics
- Grammar/syntax and society
- Theories of discourse analysis
- Theories of pragmatics
- Discourse analysis and society 
- Pragmatics and society
- The sociolinguistics of Nigerian English
- The Phonology of Nigerian English
- Varieties of English in the Nigerian educational context
- The Language of Literary expression
- Literature in the Nigerian linguistic and cultural space

The APA reference style is recommended, but papers in literature may adopt the
MLA style. Articles, which should be between 5000 and 8000 words long, should
be sent electronically to all the editors:
