Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Memorial University, in partnership with the
Labrador Institute, seeks to recruit and nominate an accomplished scholar for
a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Change, Adaptation, and Revitalization of
Aboriginal Languages. In response to the increasing rate of disappearance of
small-scale languages, the Chair will engage in community-partnered research
activities, with a principal focus being the creation of corpora of primary
data. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Linguistics and have an
excellent publication record. The Canada Research Chairs program stands at the
centre of a national strategy to make Canada one of the world’s top countries
in research and development. The Tier 2 Chairship is for 5 years, renewable
once for a further 5 years. The appointment will be at the level of Assistant
Professor or Associate Professor. The position is expected to commence July
