Description:

ESL Instructor - Tenure Track - Fall 2016

This position is open until filled. Review of applications will begin on

Department: International Languages  

Job Description:

- Teach 15 credit hours of undergraduate courses in ESL per semester, advise
students, maintain office hours, and perform service to the department,
college, and local community.
- Develop ESL syllabi and course materials; evaluate student mastery of skills
and competencies as outlined in course outcomes; perform other duties as
assigned.
- Participate in student advisement and recruitment activities, assessment of
student learning outcomes, and curriculum/program development.
- Participate in program/division and school meetings and other related
activities.

Required Qualifications:

- Master's degree in TESOL, linguistics, applied linguistics,
sociolinguistics, second language acquisition and pedagogy, or closely related
field from a regionally-accredited college/university.
- Five consecutive years of full-time or 10 consecutive years of part-time
(within last 10 years) teaching English-as-a-second language (ESL) reading,
writing, listening/speaking, pronunciation, and integrated-skills courses in a
credit-bearing English-as-a-second language program at a two-year community
college.
- Experience in multi-media ESL instruction, learning management systems
(LMS), and web-based ESL distance education.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in ESL curriculum/program development, program assessment and CEA
accreditation.
- At least one year experience teaching English abroad.
- Experience working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or
workforce.

Salary:

Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of
full-time equivalent college teaching experience. A maximum of 10 years of
experience will be considered for initial salary placement.
