Professor in English Language Pedagogy/TESOL

The Faculty of Education and International Studies is in search of a new staff
member. For more information about the faculty, please visit the web-site

Tasks and responsibilities 

The successful applicant will primarily teach at bachelor and master levels,
with possible teaching within the Faculty’s PhD program in Educational
Sciences for Teacher Education. The successful applicant will be employed
within the English section, where faculty teach English in teacher education
programs (including Continuing Professional Development programs), as well as
the English specialization course in the master’s program. The successful
applicant will be expected to lead a research group, and to initiate new and
innovative projects. Applying for external funding is part of the position, as
are administrative tasks related to teaching and research and development. 

Qualifications

- Professor-level qualifications in English didactics
- Knowledge of primary and lower secondary school and teacher education
- Experience with teaching and research and development in teacher education
- Experience with supervising master students
- Experience with academic management
- Good ICT competence
- International experience and participation in multinational projects is
desirable
- The general criteria for appointment in a position as professor are
stipulated in Regulations relating to Appointment and Promotion to Teaching
and Research Positions (Forskrift om ansettelse og opprykk i undervisnings- og
forskerstillinger) §§ 1-2 and 1-3.
- Documented pedagogical competence and experience is desirable. Candidates
who have no relevant qualifications in pedagogy at the time of appointment
must commit themselves to completing the program for basic pedagogical
competence (15 ECTS credits) at HiOA within two years.

The university college will evaluate pedagogical skills in connection with the
interview for the position.

Remuneration

Salary is set in accordance with the Norwegian State Salary Scale, job code
1013/1532 professor, wage scale 75-84 (kr 676 800-870 000). Higher salary
might be considered for specially qualified candidates.
