Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics; Language Acquisition

Meeting Description:

The symposium, which will be one of the first of its kind in Europe, will
bring together teachers and researchers of English for Tourism (EfT) from
diverse national and international contexts in order to initiate a sustained
academic discourse on the teaching of EfT. The symposium will consist of a
series of talks on a wide range of themes related to the teaching of EfT,
including: theoretical concepts, needs analyses, teaching approaches and
methodological frameworks, current programs and projects, and specific
teaching methods. These talks will serve as a platform for an open panel
discussion during which all participants may ask questions and share their own
perspectives and experiences. The symposium will be of interest to language
teachers and subject teachers teaching in tourism programs at all levels and
in all contexts (e.g. high school, university, professional development, and
community programs), as well as interested stakeholders in tourism.Symposium
