Meeting Description:

The 2016 annual conference of the Australian Linguistic Society will be held
at Monash University’s Caulfield campus on 7-9 December 2016. We are pleased
to announce that Day 1 (Wednesday 7 December) will be a shared day with the
2016 Conference of the Applied Linguistics Association of Australia (ALAA),
with joint plenaries and presentations on this day.

Plenary speakers for ALS 2016:
Asif Agha (University of Pennsylvania) (joint ALAA/ALS plenary)
Jane Simpson (Australian National University)
Nick Enfield (University of Sydney)
Greville Corbett (University of Surrey)


Call for Papers: 

We welcome submissions on any topic within the fields of general linguistics,
applied linguistics, and sociolinguistics for the following presentation
types:

- oral presentations: 20 minute presentation followed by 10 minutes question
time
- themed sessions: a collection of individually-run related presentations
allocated a dedicated 1.5 hour time slot
- lightning plenary presentations: brief (3 minute) presentations about work
in progress or completed projects, with presenters then invited to be
available during lunch (with or without a poster) to further discuss their
work with those interested
- panel discussions, workshops, colloquia, roundtables, or other innovative
sessions
