Meeting Description:

Speech Research is a Croatian scientific conference with international
participation which allows the presentation of new scientific research and
knowledge in the field of phonetics. Phonetic sciences are interdisciplinary
by nature, so the conference provides an opportunity to gather experts and
researchers from different disciplines. The main topic of this year’s
conference is speech prosody, but papers covering other speech-related topics
are equally welcome.

- Carlos Gussenhoven (Radboud University Nijmegen, Netherlands)
- Bettina Braun (University of Konstanz, Germany)
- Damir Kovačić (Speech and Hearing Research Lab, University of Split,
Croatia)


Call for Papers: 

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 9th scientific conference
with international participation Speech Research. The conference will be
hosted at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb,
from the 8th until the 10th of December 2016. Speech Research is a Croatian
scientific conference with international participation which allows the
presentation of new scientific research and knowledge in the field of
phonetics. Phonetic sciences are interdisciplinary by nature, so the
conference provides an opportunity to gather experts and researchers from
different disciplines. The main topic of this year’s conference is speech
prosody, but papers covering other speech-related topics are equally welcome.

- Voice quality, phonation, and vocal dynamics
- Phonology and phonetics of prosody
- Acquisition of first language prosody
- Prosody in language contact and second language acquisition

- Prosody in tone languages, pitch-accent languages and stress accent
languages
- Prosodic aspects of speech and language pathology
- Psycholinguistic, cognitive, neural correlates of prosody
- Prosody in automatic speech synthesis, recognition and understanding
- Prosody in computational linguistics
- Prosody in language and music
- Meta-linguistic and para-linguistic communication
- Prosody of sign language

Submission of abstracts:

Abstracts should be submitted in either Croatian and English (authors
presenting in Croatian) or English (authors presenting in English) and should
not exceed 400 words. Abstract should propose a clear research problem, a
viable theoretical framework and a link between previous studies and the
research problem presented in the paper. The hypothesis and research
methodology need to be clearly presented together with the research results
and the potential scientific or professional contribution of the work.
