Description:

The International Center for Language Studies (ICLS) is a woman-owned,
independent language school based in Washington, DC which is now celebrating
50 years of delivering high-quality training in ESL and over 85 different
foreign languages. 

We are currently hiring for the above position at the Foreign Service
Institute (FSI) in Arlington, VA which provides language training and testing
to the diplomatic community in over 70 foreign languages.  Enrollments in the
School surpass 2,000 students annually including up to 1,000 distance learning
enrollments.

Job Description:

- Serve as examiner for language proficiency testing.
- Assist as directed with providing testing training to candidates seeking
testing certification by tasks including but not limited to facilitating
training workshops, providing small group or individual mentoring, and
observing candidates while conducting mock or official exams
- Serve as examiner for language proficiency testing in reading and speaking,
interacting with the examinee in English to administer the exam and collecting
and rating foreign language proficiency in conjunction with the tester. The
examiner directs the administration of each portion of the exam, collects
information from the tester about the examinee's linguistic performance on
various parts of the test, and determines the selection and/or preparation of
reading test materials.
- Shall be asked to become a certified examiner. The training process takes
approximately one year to complete and includes a 40-hour introductory
workshop, approximately 25 hours of review classes and mentoring meetings with
a Testing Mentor,a written assessment on testing processes, observations of at
least three official exams, conducting mock practice exams, and conducting
official exams observed by the Testing Mentor or Operations Manager to
complete certification.
- May be requested to conduct end of training tests at a field school
overseas.
- Lead, in conjunction with the tester, the creation and testing of new
reading kits to be used in face-to-face,telephone or field testing.
- Lead, in conjunction with the tester the production of audio or video
materials for use in conjunction with testing training.
- Collaborate with a variety of language staff to lead the reviewing and
editing of foreign language and/or English in testing materials.
- Adhere to all copyright guidelines and restrictions and follow procedures
regarding copyright.
- Adhere to all guidelines and follow all procedures regarding testing
material security and safeguarding test score data.

Requirements:

- Advanced, native, or near-native English language proficiency
- Eligibility to work in the United States and have a minimum of 1 year
remaining U.S. employment eligibility.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience administering FSI language exams.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience designing and selecting testing
materials for FSI language exams.
- Current FSI/LTU Examiner Certification.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

- BA/BS, MA/MS, or Ph.D., or foreign equivalent degree in educational
assessment, testing, and measurement fields preferred.
- Experience with online delivery systems used to administer proficiency-based
exams valued.
- Experience contributing to comprehensive review processes such as periodic
external review of testing procedures valued (i.e., for ACE accreditation).
