Meeting Description:

AsLing (International Association for Advancement of Language Technology) is
delighted to announce the forthcoming, 38th edition of the annual Translating
and the Computer Conference (TC38) to take place on 17 and 18 November 2016 in
London. 

Translating and the Computer is a key date in the diary precisely because it
draws together ''bridge-builders'' from many different countries, backgrounds
and professions. An annual meeting where translators, researchers and business
people, from translation companies, international organisations, universities
and research labs, as well as freelance professionals and tool developers,
exchange ideas and discuss current trends. It offers an excellent opportunity
to engage with stakeholders from all areas of the translation world.

Call for Submissions and Proposals:

The Translating and the Computer conference takes the form of presentations,
posters, panel discussions, and workshops. You are invited to submit extended
abstract of a paper, poster, or an abstract of a proposed workshop.

Conference Topics:

- Contributions are invited on any topic related to the technology used in
translation and interpreting, including, but not limited to: 
- CAT tools (Translation Memory (TM) systems, integration of Machine
Translation in TM systems), 
- Terminology Management, 
- Machine Translation (training, quality assessment, post-editing,
adaptation), 
- Interpreter tools,
- Quality Control, 
- Interoperability, 
- Crowd-sourcing, 
- Natural Language Processing,
- Translation Workflow and Management. 

Other important topics include training (including university translation
programmes and the rapidly changing translation industry), tools and resources
for translators and interpreters (including mobile technologies), and how to
facilitate collaboration between translators and translation companies.

Submission Guidelines:

Original unpublished papers and posters on all aspects of translation and
interpretation technology are invited. Papers and posters may report on
research, on commercial translation products or on user experience. Papers are
expected to report on more conclusive results, whereas posters can present
ongoing and not necessarily completed research, teaching or training activity,
practical work, software programs, projects or new developments.

Papers:

Authors are invited to submit an extended abstract (strict maximum of 750
words) of the paper they would like to present, together with a short 200-word
abstract and short biography. The extended abstract should provide sufficient
information to allow evaluation. The short abstracts of accepted papers will
be used in the online programme and event advertising.
Camera-ready versions of the accepted papers should not exceed 5,000 words.

Posters:

Poster proposals are invited in the form of extended abstracts not exceeding
1500 words. Authors should submit a short 500-word version as well as a short
biography for dissemination purposes.
Camera-ready versions of the accepted posters should not exceed 2,000 words.

Workshops:

Workshop proposals should be presented in the form of extended abstracts of
750 words, indicating the topic and structure and methodology of the proposed
workshop, together with a short abstract of 200 words and a short biography of
the author(s) and/or presenter(s).
Camera-ready versions of papers describing the accepted workshops in a more
formal manner should not exceed 5,000 words.

Submission:

The papers, posters and workshop proposals should be submitted via the START
conference submission system at: https://www.softconf.com/g/tc2016/. 

Following acceptance of the abstracts, the authors will be informed.
Successful authors will be provided with guidelines and style sheets when they
are notified.
Camera-ready versions of papers, posters, and workshops will be published in
the conference e-proceedings with an assigned ISBN number, subject to the
presenter having duly registered for the conference.

Schedule:

27 June 2016 - Deadline for abstracts of papers and posters
8 August 2016 - All authors notified of decisions
30 September 2016 - Full papers and posters to be submitted for inclusion in
the e-proceedings
4 November 2016 - Presentations to be submitted
17-18 November 2016 - Conference takes place in London
