NWAV is the leading conference in language variation and change. The theme of

the site of rich cultural and linguistic variation, historically and
currently. Co-hosted by Simon Fraser University and the University of
Victoria, NWAV 45 will highlight the ways in which communities and individuals
shape their identities through language variation and change.

Final Call for Papers:

http://linguistics.arts.sfu.ca/nwav45/program/

We are pleased to announce our Call for Papers for New Ways of Analyzing
Variation (NWAV) 45 in Vancouver. We invite submissions for papers and/or
posters in all areas related to language variation and change; we particularly
welcome those that fit within the theme and scope of the 2016 meeting.

Abstracts should be no more than 500 words, excluding references, and must be
anonymized to omit all information about the author(s). Abstracts and
presentations may be in either of Canada’s official languages (English or
French). All abstracts should be submitted as .pdf files, via the online
abstract submission page, accessible from the conference website.

Abstracts are also accepted for special sessions. In this case the organizer
is asked to submit a proposal of no more than 500 words, excluding references,
and abstracts for each paper to be considered for the session (following the
guidelines outlined above). Abstracts and special sessions may be in either of
Canada’s official languages (English or French).

Authors may submit one singly-authored and one jointly-authored abstract, or
two jointly-authored abstracts. This limit applies to all presentations,
regardless of type (paper, poster).

Abstracts will be anonymously reviewed and considered for both oral and poster
presentations. Oral presentations will be selected for four parallel sessions;
presenters will have 20 minutes to present and 5 minutes for questions. Poster
presentations will be featured at a plenary poster session on Friday, 4
November.

Abstract submissions accepted: April 1 to June 1, 2016

Preliminary program available online: August 2016

Please support the LL editors and operation with a donation at:

This year the LINGUIST List hopes to raise $79,000. This money
will go to help keep the List running by supporting all of our
Student Editors for the coming year.

Don't forget to check out Fund Drive 2016 site!

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Indiana University and
as such can receive donations through Indiana University Foundation. We
also collect donations via eLinguistics Foundation, a registered 501(c)
Non Profit organization with the federal tax number 45-4211155. Either
way, the donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your
state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the
IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that
they will match any gift you make to a non-profit organization.
Normally this entails your contacting your human resources department
and sending us a form that the Indiana University Foundation fills in
and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative
procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
