Meeting Description:

TESOL Kuwait Third International Conference

Gulf University for Science and Technology-Kuwait
November 17-19, 2016

“Innovation, Creativity, Communication: Facing Novel Challenges in TESOL”

Welcome to TESOL Kuwait Third International Conference!

It is our pleasure to welcome you again in Kuwait to exchange ideas, interact
with local and international colleagues, and to benefit from invaluable
expertise offered by renowned scholars in TESOL and Applied Linguistics. This
year’s theme, “Innovation, Creativity, Communication: Facing Novel Challenges
in TESOL”, reflects the necessity for adapting to the new technological era we
are living in by creating and fostering new designs, approaches, and methods
for improving teaching English to speakers of other languages, and for facing
new challenges.

Call for Papers:

We welcome proposals on all aspects of TESOL, with special emphasis on new
technological solutions to face TESOL challenges. Selected papers will be
published in TESOL Kuwait first conference proceedings. Our conference
emphasizes the inseparable unity between theory and practice. We thus welcome
theoretical papers showing practicality and efficacy of specific theoretical
frameworks. We invite proposals for papers that are related, but not limited,
to the following themes:

1. Technology as one of the pillars in modern education
2. Language testing and assessment
3. Learner/teacher interaction
4. Applied Linguistics
5. Curriculum design and development
6. Teachers’ professional development
7. Improving teaching methodologies
8. Cooperative learning
9. English as an international language
10. Bilingual and multilingual education
11. Bilingualism and its impact on learning English
12. Any other topic that has relevance to the theme of the Conference

Paper Presentations are research, theory, concepts, and practices. They are 25
minutes long + 10 minutes Q&A.

A presentation describes or shows how to do something, e.g., a technique for
teaching or testing language which affects development of one or all of the
language skills.

Workshop Sessions are 50 minutes long. These sessions are interactive with
emphasis on group collaborations. They are mainly designed for sharing
invaluable teaching experiences leading to fostering new methods for teaching
English. A workshop shows, rather than discusses, a technique for teaching or
testing.

Poster Session (at various times each day)
This is a great opportunity for researchers in their initial stages of their
projects to showcase their ideas at the TESOL Kuwait conference. Presenters
can share their ideas with their colleagues and interact with them even after
the conference period to receive useful feedback on their work. Posters can
stay up for the whole duration of the conference. This format is ideal for
presenting provocative ideas, projects, or works in progress that lend
themselves to visual displays or presentations in a shared space. Poster
sessions are scheduled for different time slots each day of the conference
(approximately one hour).

Registration starts on (May 10, 2016) and runs through (October 1, 2016).
Early registration is encouraged and a discounted rate is offered to early
birds.

For further details, please visit TESOL Kuwait website at www.tesolkuwait.org
All proposals should be submitted to Dr. Hussain Al Sharoufi at

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Indiana University and
as such can receive donations through Indiana University Foundation. We
also collect donations via eLinguistics Foundation, a registered 501(c)
Non Profit organization with the federal tax number 45-4211155. Either
way, the donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your
state tax return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the
IRS Web-Site, or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that
they will match any gift you make to a non-profit organization.
Normally this entails your contacting your human resources department
and sending us a form that the Indiana University Foundation fills in
and returns to your employer. This is generally a simple administrative
procedure that doubles the value of your gift to LINGUIST, without
costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
