Description:

The Department of English Language and Literature at the National University
of Singapore will hire a Research Fellow (post-doc) in syntax for one year,
with a preferred start date of July 1, 2017. The Research Fellow will be hired
under the project "Theory and variation in extraction marking and subject
extraction asymmetries," PI Michael Yoshitaka Erlewine.

The Research Fellow will investigate cross-linguistic patterns of extraction
marking (morphosyntactic marking triggered by movement) and extraction
asymmetries and will work on related questions of syntactic theory. The ideal
candidate will bring extensive knowledge of extraction patterns in languages
or language families which complements the background of the PI. There is no
teaching obligation. The Research Fellow must have their PhD in hand by the
start of the position.

The Research Fellow's base salary will be 60,000 SGD plus medical benefits,
with the possibility of a further performance bonus. Some funds exist for
conference travel and publication expenses.
