Meeting Description:

The ARLE 2017 ''Cultures, Arts & Verbal Communication in L1 Education'' will
focus on education in integrating cultures and languages, arts and
literatures, as well as on learning-teaching languages of schooling among
other ones, all challenged by increase in cultural diversity and transnational
virtual publics.

Invited speakers:

Professor Dr Andrew Burn on multimodal literacy in the context of media arts
education 
Prof Dr Adriana Bus about the advantages of digitized picture storybooks
enriched with motion pictures, sound and music for mother tongue education in
kindergarten. 
Prof Dr Minna-Riita Luukka will focus on multi-literacy as a broad objective
of the national core curriculum recently designed for Finland


Call for Papers:

Abstract submission starts on 1 September, 2016 and closes on 15 December,
2016, incl. Abstracts go through double blind reviewing.

Abstract text should be no longer than 250 words, plus not more than 3-4 main
references added.

Before submitting everyone has to register as a new user.

When submitting the abstract, a presenter has to choose between formats, such
as oral presentation of completed study, oral presentation of ongoing study,
and poster presentation (with 5-7 min oral introduction). Posters could be
preferred when having many of tables and/or figures.

Candidates invited to a symposium or a round table discussion should send
their abstracts directly to the organizer. Beside usual presentations, some
proposals for a max 10 min talk focused on a coherent set of ideas (probably
illustrated on the poster) might be sent to the organizer of a round table
discussion who decides before mid-November whether this format would be
acceptable.

Notifications of acceptance will be delivered by the end of January, 2017.
