Job Title: Associate Professor in Multilingualism
Job Rank: Associate Professor

Specialty Areas: Language Acquisition; Neurolinguistics; Psycholinguistics; Language Attrition; Multilingualism

Description:

One permanent position as Associate Professor in Multilingualism is available
at the Center for Multilingualism in Society across the Lifespan (MultiLing),
Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies (ILN) at the University of
Oslo (UiO). Further information about MultiLing is available on its homepage:
http://www.hf.uio.no/multiling/english/. Further information about ILN can be
found on its homepage: http://www.hf.uio.no/iln/english/. MultiLing is a
Center of Excellence funded by the Research Council of Norway, which was
opened on June 1, 2013. Funding for the Center is for 10 years, contingent
upon a successful midway evaluation of the first 5-year period. Once the
Center’s financing from the Research Council of Norway has terminated, the
position will be fully integrated into the ILN.

MultiLing seeks to recruit an Associate Professor with excellent research
qualifications who will work within the range of the Center’s research
profile. A special emphasis will be given to documented research experience in
multilingualism with a specialization in psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics,
bilingual/multilingual first language acquisition, second language
acquisition, language processing, speech and language impairments, or language
attrition.

The successful candidate is expected to strengthen the relevant research areas
addressed at MultiLing, to contribute to and participate in the various
activities organized by MultiLing, such as workshops, seminars, and
conferences, and to be an active member of the MultiLing team and ILN at the
University of Oslo.

While the research component of the position is defined by the fields of
inquiry relevant for MultiLing, the teaching component can encompass several
areas covered in the courses given at ILN, as the teaching will be part of the
instructional program at the Department. The successful applicant is expected
to supervise PhD and MA candidates, to participate in teaching, exam setting
and evaluation at all levels, and to carry out administrative duties in
accordance with applicable rules.
