Description:

The School of Language and Culture Studies at the Tokyo University of Foreign
Studies is seeking to make a tenure-track appointment in Sociolinguistics, to
begin in Spring 2017. The appointed scholar will teach several classes in
sociolinguistics and English in the School of  Language and Culture Studies
and  some master-course seminars in the Graduate School of Global Studies. 

For qualifications, refer to the link below. The applicants should have a PhD
or expecting to earn one and should be under the age of 40 as of April 1,
2019. The applicants should be capable of teaching and carrying out research
in sociolinguistics, including such areas as language variation, language
contact, linguistic geography, diglossia, and code switching.

The applications for this position should be submitted by post. (The deadline
is in less than two weeks, I am sorry for the short notice.) The needed

The applicants should be capable of teaching classes in English, but they can
be of any nationality. If they do not know Japanese as of now, they must be
committed to mastering enough Japanese for daily communication by the time
they are tenured (i.e. in 4 years of time).
