Call for papers: Invitation to publish in an edited volume

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to invite you to contribute a chapter to the interdisciplinary
volume Perspectives on Colour that we are co-editing. The volume will be
published by Naukowe Wydawnictwo Piotrkowskie (the University’s publishing
house) in 2017.

We are looking for original articles with theoretical, empirical, critical, or
pedagogical focus, preferably approaching the subject of colour from some
novel angles. We will consider contributions from representatives of various
disciplines (linguistics, art history, semiotics, literary studies,
anthropology, sociology, philosophy, psychology, etc.) as well as
interdisciplinary proposals.

The suggested topics might include but are not limited to:

- theoretical aspects of colour research;
- artistic and design achievements relating to the science and art of colour;
- colour symbolism, cultural meanings, metaphors and metonymies, the
conceptual basis of colour categorization and interpretation;
- specialist terminology, colour labelling systems;
- colour in advertising, interior design, medicine, education, etc.
- literary uses of colours

If you are interested in contributing, please take note of the following:

- The language of the publication is English.
- The articles has to be written specifically for the volume (we are waiting
for previously unpublished texts only).

An abstract of minimum 300 words should be submitted to the editors by email
(colourperspectives at gmail.com) preferably by 31 December 2016. The abstract
should define as precisely as possible the subject and scope of the proposed
chapter.

- If the paper has already been written, please submit the full version.
- The editors will select the proposals that are the most relevant to the
topic.
- The prospective authors will be informed of the editors’ decision by 31
January 2017. The editorial requirements will be sent along with the decision.
- The complete chapters should be submitted by 30 April 2017.

We do hope you will respond positively to this invitation. We are looking
forward to hearing from you.

Alina Kwiatkowska (linguist and semiotician, author of publications on
verbal-visual and linguistic/literary interfaces, Professor at Jan Kochanowski
University and the University of Łódź)
Dorota Gonigroszek (linguist, author of PhD dissertation on colour, Assistant
Professor at Jan Kochanowski University)
