Description:

The Faculty of Philology – Department of Linguistics – invites applications
for the position of a full-time W1 professor (assistant professor – without
tenure track) for Experimental Linguistics, commencing April 1, 2017. The
initial period of appointment is for three years, with a prospective
prolongation for another three-year term after an evaluation.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. dissertation demonstrating outstanding knowledge and capabilities in
experimental linguistics as well as teaching experience in at least one of the
core linguistic areas of syntax, semantic, or pragmatics are prerequisite.

Your scientific profile should have a focus on the application of experimental
methods to the above-named linguistic areas while also addressing current
theoretical issues outside the experimental paradigm.

Teaching:

The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses and advise students
at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Teaching of two
courses/seminars per semester in the first three years, 2–3 courses in the
remaining 3 years of the appointment (given a positive evaluation after 3
years) is required. Courses will be primarily taught in the B.A. program in
Linguistics. Conducting B.A. exams and supervising of B.A. theses are also
expected.
 
Research:

Candidates are expected to carry out independent research, participate in
coordinated externally funded research projects as well as in the acquisition
of research funds. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate with
the professors of the department both on methodological and theoretical
levels.
