ETS Research & Development has an opening for a Research Engineer in the San
Francisco branch of the Dialog, Multimodal, and Speech (DIAMONDS) Research
Center. The projects in this research center focus on the application of
spoken and multimodal dialog systems to assessment tasks, which involves
research on robust speech recognition, spoken language understanding,
data-driven dialog management, multimodal analytics and assessment, and
multimodal biometrics.

Basic Functions and Responsibilities:

- Implement and contribute to the planning of spoken and multimodal dialog
system and assessment components including natural language processing (NLP),
speech processing, multimodal analytics, and dialog management technology in
the scope of complex research projects for ETS researchers, testing program
areas, and external clients.

- Consult with experienced research scientists in the application,
modification, and documentation of such systems using established
technologies, and novel approaches from the research literature.

- Work effectively in a team setting with researchers, testing program areas,
and external clients and take an active role in contributing to team
discussions and decisions.

- Analyze, design, modify, develop, document and implement technologies for
executing complex spoken and multimodal dialog system research and development
tasks.

- Consult area- or division-wide on the development of technologies for
executing complex spoken and multimodal dialog system research and development
tasks.

- Maintain continuing awareness of recent advances in spoken and multimodal
dialog systems, NLP, speech processing, multimodal analytics, machine
learning, and software development methodologies.
