Meeting Description:

The 26th annual meeting of Formal Approaches to Slavic Linguistics (FASL-26)
will take place at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on May
19-21, 2017. It will feature a special session on the Acquisition and
Processing of Slavic Languages.

The invited speakers for the main session are Stephanie Harves (New York
University) and Darya Kavitskaya (UC Berkeley).

FASL-26 will feature a special session on the Acquisition and Processing of
Slavic languages. Research in linguistics is increasingly moving towards
integrating theoretical, psycholinguistic and acquisition approaches. The
question of whether processing and grammar are served by the same or different
mechanisms is being addressed by both theoretical linguists and
psycholinguists. At the same time, research in language acquisition is
expanding to encompass both bilingual and monolingual development, and both
atypical and typical language acquisition. The specific properties of Slavic
languages, including rich inflectional paradigms and the relationship between
word order and information structure, make them particularly interesting to
study from the perspectives of both processing and acquisition. For the
special session, abstracts are invited on theoretically informed studies that
address the processing and/or acquisition (first or second, monolingual or
bilingual, etc.) of one or more Slavic languages, and/or compare processing or
acquisition of Slavic and non-Slavic languages.

The invited speakers for the special session on Acquisition and Processing of
Slavic languages are Alexandra Perovic (University College London), Irina
Sekerina (CUNY - College of Staten Island) and Natalia Slioussar (Higher
School of Economics, Moscow).

Call for Papers:

The 26th annual meeting of Formal Approaches to Slavic Linguistics (FASL-26)
will take place at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on May
19-21, 2017.

FASL-26 will include talks on topics in formal Slavic linguistics, including
phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. For the
general session, abstracts are invited on both theoretical and experimental
studies in Slavic linguistics that have consequences for linguistic theory.

Abstract Submission Deadline: 05-Jan-2017

Abstracts should be submitted via EasyChair at the following link:

Formatting Guidelines: Abstracts should be in PDF format, with all
non-standard fonts embedded. Abstracts should not exceed 2 pages, including
data and references (11 pt font minimum, Times New Roman or bigger font,
single spacing, 1 inch/2.5 cm margins on all sides). Abstracts should be
anonymous.

There is no limit on the number of submissions per author. However, no more
than one single-authored or first-authored abstract per author will be
accepted for presentation. There is no limit on the number of acceptances for
second/third/etc.-authored abstracts.
