Meeting Description:

The Southwest Popular / American Culture Association's 38th annual conference
is one of the nations largest interdisciplinary academic conferences. The
conference will consist of a number of panels in different disciplines. This
posting is for the linguistics panel led by Lisa Wagner.

This panel will consist of 20-minute individual or joint presentations of
unpublished papers in the area of applied linguistics (sociolinguistics,
discourse analysis, visual linguistics, semiotics, L1 and L2 teaching and
learning, etc.).


Call for Papers:

Proposals for papers and panels are now being accepted for the 38th annual
SWPACA conference.  Original papers in applied linguistics (semiotics,
pedagogy, sociolinguistics, pragmatics, dialectology, etc.) are welcome! 
Papers must be delivered in English. There is a 20 minute time limit for each
presentation. One of the nation’s largest interdisciplinary academic
conferences, SWPACA offers nearly 70 subject areas, each typically featuring
multiple panels.

All proposals must be submitted through the conference’s database at
http://conference2017.southwestpca.org/ .

Individual proposals for 15 minute papers must include an abstract of
approximately 200-500 words.  Including a brief biography in the body of the
proposal form is encouraged, but not required.

The deadline for submissions is November 1, 2016.

SWPACA offers monetary awards for the best graduate student papers in a
variety of categories. Submissions of accepted, full papers are due December
