Meeting Description:

The Second International Conference on Situating Strategy Use: Present Issues
and Future Trends, organized by The +MorPhoSe Laboratory of
Linguistics,Department of Greek, Democritus University of Thrace, Komotini,
Greece will take place from 28 to 30 September 2017. This interdisciplinary
conference aims to stimulate the ongoing research and further probe into less
investigated issues concerning language learning strategies within an
international community of scholars.

The conference will focus on the role of language learning strategies in
second and foreign language learning, and keynote addresses will be delivered
by:

Dr. Andrew Cohen (Professor Emeritus, University of Minnesota, USA)
Dr. Peter Gu (Victoria University of Wellington, NZ)
Dr. Ernesto Macaro (University of Oxford, UK)
Dr. Rebecca Oxford (Professor Emerita, University of Alabama at
Birmingham,USA)
Dr. Angeliki Psaltou-Joycey (Professor Emerita, Aristotle University of
Thessaloniki,Greece)

Call for Papers:

The Second International Conference on Situating Strategy Use: Present Issues
and Future Trends, organized by The +MorPhoSe Laboratory of
Linguistics,Department of Greek, Democritus University of Thrace, Komotini,
Greece will take place from 28 to 30 September 2017.

Contributions are invited on the following topics:

- Theoretical background to language learning strategies
- Language learning strategies and language learning contexts
- The role of strategies in learning different languages, skills and
subsystems
- Integrated research on LLS
- Language learning strategies and self-regulation
- Metacognitive awareness and strategy use
- Variables affecting strategy choice and use
- Language learning strategies and proficiency
- Strategy clustering
- Strategies-based instruction
- Information technology and language learning strategies
- The learner as agent in language learning strategy use
- Research methodology on language learning strategies

Abstracts of proposed papers, workshops and posters (200-300 words) are to be
electronically submitted to http://synmorphose.compulaw.gr/ssu2017/ by 28
February 2017, and notification of acceptance will be given by 30 April 2017.
The proposals should include the title, author’s name, affiliation and email
address, along with a short (60-80 word) biographical note. Selected papers
will be published in a peer-reviewed volume.
