Description:

Macquarie University’s Department of Linguistics is one of Australia’s largest
and most diverse Linguistics departments. We seek applications from candidates
with professional qualifications in speech pathology, who specialise in child
language disorders, for a position of either Senior Lecturer or Associate
Professor. Specialists in child language disorders (phonology, syntax, SLI)
are strongly encouraged to apply. 

Applicants must respond to selection criteria (indicate Level C or D) in a
separate document. 

Senior Lecturer (Level C) Essential:

- PhD focused on language disabilities in children
- Well-articulated research agenda in child language disorders, track record
of high quality journal publications 
- Demonstrated ability to attract external research funding, record of
competitive grant successes
- Demonstrated academic knowledge in speech pathology, particularly child
language disorders, commitment and capability to deliver high quality learning
and teaching, including design, delivery, and management of programs,
lectures, tutorials, assessments
- Excellent communication skills, ability to relate to staff and students from
all backgrounds and represent the Department to external stakeholders and
general public
- Experience with research student supervision
- Demonstrated contribution to academic life and Department administrative
tasks, track record of effective team work
- Certified practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)

Desirable:

- Experience and interest in interdisciplinary research
- Experience in development of ongoing partnerships with industry and/or
professional bodies
- Experience and interest in online learning and teaching

Associate Professor (Level D) Essential:

- PhD focused on language disabilities in children
- Established research program and record of publications in high quality
journals and publishing houses
- Demonstrated academic knowledge in speech pathology, particularly child
language disorders, commitment and capability to deliver high quality learning
and teaching, including design, delivery, and management of programs,
lectures, tutorials, and assessments
- Leadership skills and extensive research supervision experience
- Demonstrated contributions to academic life and Department administrative
tasks, track record of effective team work and leadership
- National and international research reputation
- Track record of successful research funding applications or equivalent
success in project leadership and completion
- Certified practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)

Desirable:

- Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience
- Administrative leadership experience
- Experience in development of ongoing partnerships with industry and/or
professional bodies
- Experience and interest in online learning and teaching

Salary: 

Senior Lecturer $118,401 – $136,161 p.a, plus 17% employer's superannuation
and annual leave loading
Associate Professor $142,197 - $156,406 p.a, plus 17% employer's
superannuation and annual leave loading

Appointment: Full-time (continuing), to start early 2017
