Upcoming special issue of the Journal of Language Technology and Computational
Linguistics on NLP for Arabic and languages mainly written using
Arabic/Perso-Arabic alphabets and their variants (e.g. Urdu, Pashto, Sindhi).

The journal publishes reports of original research related to the recognition,
understanding, production, coding and mining of speech and language.

Contributions from all of the related fields are welcomed in the form of
reports of theoretical or experimental studies, tutorials, reviews, and brief
correspondence pertaining to models and their implementation, or reports of
fundamental research leading to the improvement of such models.

Research topics of interest include:

Computational models of discourse and dialogue
Computational morphology
Corpus construction and evaluation
Information retrieval, extraction, and summarization
Language modeling
Lexicon building
Named Entity Recognition
Parsing techniques
Semantic analysis
Standards
Variants, dialects, and noisy text

Important dates:

The submission deadline is December 1st 2016 (notification of acceptance on
March 1st 2017)
The issue is expected to be published in the summer of 2017.
