Description:

Job Objective: 

All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and
learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement,
recognising that there are differences in the execution of these
responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties.  Academics are
also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership
duties at the departmental, Faculty and/or University level. 

Requirements:

Senior Lecturer: A PhD in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics. Evidence of
research and publication in, but not restricted to, African linguistics is
required. Candidates should have teaching experience at both the undergraduate
and post graduate levels.
 
Lecturer: At least a Masters’ degree in Linguistics or direct cognate
discipline, preferably with progress towards a PhD. Some teaching or tutoring
experience at undergraduate level is required.

The successful candidates should have had a broad training in Linguistics, and
have demonstrable knowledge of and engagement in two or more of the areas:
Phonology, Psycholinguistics, Language Acquisition and related phenomena,
Language Contact, Linguistics of Literacies, Language in Education.
