Description:

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Furman University
invites applications for an open-rank tenure-track position in Hispanic
linguistics to begin August 1, 2017. Professional-level proficiency in Spanish
and English required. Teaching load is five courses per year; responsibilities
include a range of offerings in Hispanic linguistics, all levels of Spanish
language, and first-year writing seminars. Candidates must demonstrate a
strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, mentoring, and scholarship. The
department offers a robust Spanish major and faculty-led semester-length study
abroad programs in Spain and Chile.

Letter of application, CV, statement of teaching philosophy, sample of
scholarly work, diversity statement, and three letters of recommendation must
be submitted to the application link below by November 1, 2016. The diversity
statement, not to exceed 300 words, should reflect the candidate’s awareness
of the challenges facing the many student groups traditionally
underrepresented in higher education and discuss strategies for addressing
these challenges.
