5th Symposium on Luso-Hispanic Linguistics
 
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UW-Madison is pleased to announce
the 5th Luso-Hispanic Linguistics Symposium (5th LHLS), to be held Saturday,
October 29, 2016 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This Symposium will
include presentations on different fields of descriptive, applied or
theoretical linguistics from a synchronic or diachronic perspective. Language
contact issues will be highlighted in this event.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Professor José Ignacio Hualde (University
of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign).


2nd Call for Papers:

5th Luso-Hispanic Linguistics Symposium (5th LHLS)

Submissions for the main session from graduate students and other junior
scholars, are welcome in any field of descriptive, applied or theoretical
linguistics from a synchronic or diachronic perspective. Papers should not
exceed 20 minutes. The languages of the symposium are English, Portuguese and
Spanish.

Abstracts should be at most one page, with one-inch margins and 12-point font.
A second page may be included for references and/or data. Abstracts should be
sent to lftejedo at wisc.edu.

The deadline for submission is September 23, 2016. You will be notified of the
status of your submission by the end of September.

Registration and accommodation information will be provided once proposals are
accepted.  

Registration fees:  $40 (students) and $75 (non-student & faculty) to be
submitted before October 15, 2016; a $20 late fee will be assessed on
registrations received after that date.
