Description:

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics, Faculty of Liberal
Arts & Professional Studies, York University invites applications for an
Alternate Stream (teaching focused) tenure-track position in English as a
Second Language (ESL) at the rank of Assistant Lecturer to commence July 1,
2017.

The successful candidate will have a completed PhD in TESL, Second Language
Education, Applied Linguistics or in a related discipline and a college or
university administered TESL/TEFL diploma/certificate or the equivalent, as
well as be eligible for teacher accreditation by TESL Ontario.

Experience teaching content-based credit ESL/EAP in post-secondary
institutions and evidence of teaching excellence is required. Preference will
be given to those with ESL teacher preparation courses, graduate level Applied
Linguistics, and experience coordinating language programs. The successful
candidate is expected to be able to participate actively in the TESOL
Certificate Program; ESL program development and co-ordination; and in
envisioning new directions for ESL at York. Pedagogical innovation in high
priority areas such as experiential education and technology enhanced learning
is an asset.

professional experience and research interests, an up-to-date curriculum
vitae, a sample of their scholarly writing (maximum 50 pp.), and a teaching
dossier, and arrange for three confidential letters of recommendation to be

The deadline for applications is November 15, 2016. Salary will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience. All York University positions
