Description:

Soka University of America (SUA) seeks to fill a full time tenure-track
assistant professorship in French Language and Culture, beginning in August of
2017. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach all
levels of French language courses from beginning to advanced. She/he will also
be able to teach courses on specialized topics in French language and
francophone culture in French to students of French as a foreign language.
Special consideration will be given to those with degrees in (applied)
linguistics, anthropology, or a related filed.  The standard full-time
teaching load at SUA is two courses per semester, and one course in SUA’s
cross-disciplinary general education curriculum (Core, Modes of Inquiry, or
Learning Cluster; for course descriptions see our catalog at www.soka.edu).
The teaching load per academic year is five courses.

SUA offers a challenging program in liberal arts with a focus on the Pacific
Rim, and a strong emphasis on international/intercultural exposure.  All
undergraduates must complete four semesters of foreign (non-English) language
coursework at SUA, and study abroad for one semester during their junior year.
 The university aims to foster rewarding intellectual relationships among
faculty, and between faculty and students through collaboration and mentoring.
 An appreciation of the centrality of peace, global citizenship, freedom, and
human rights is the founding impetus for the university and its mission.

Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a PhD in an appropriate area, and have demonstrated
excellence in teaching and research.
