University or Organization: University of Oldenburg
Department: Cluster of Excellence, Hearing for all
Job Location: Oldenburg, Germany
Web Address: http://hearing4all.eu/DE/
Job Title: Postdoc in the field of Psycho-/Neurolinguistics
Job Rank: Post Doc

Specialty Areas: Neurolinguistics; Psycholinguistics

Required Language(s): German (deu)

Description:

The cluster of excellence Hearing4all:

Models, Technology and Solutions for Diagnostics, Restoration and Support of
Hearing at the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg (in collaboration with
Medizinische Hochschule Hannover and Leibniz Universität Hannover) is seeking
to fill as soon as possible the position of a Postdoctoral Research Associate
in the Field of Psycho-/Neurolinguistics in the Department of Dutch, Faculty
of Linguistics and Cultural Studies.

The position is available from 1 November 2016 until 31.12.2018. Payment is
depending on previous experience (German TV-L E13, full time) and is not
suitable for part-time work.

A paramount goal of the cluster of excellence Hearing4all
(http://hearing4all.eu/DE/) is to transform audiology into an “exact” science
based on the interplay between experiment and theory as well as between basic
science and clinical research. The candidate will be working within the
project The effects of hearing impairment on grammatical processing and
comprehension and its neurological underpinnings.

Candidates are expected to have an academic university degree in the field of
(psycho-) linguistics, psychology (with a specialization in speech/language
processing) or a related discipline and have shown their ability to perform
excellent scientific work, usually demonstrated by the outstanding quality of
their Doctorate/PhD research and a good publication record.

We are seeking candidates with experience in statistical analysis as well as
extensive knowledge in fMRI and/or in MEG/EEG research. Matlab skills will be
helpful, as well as working knowledge of German. Since the position entails
close interdisciplinary cooperation with several other disciplines
(psychology, audiology), the willingness and ability to integrate methods,
concepts and issues of the ‚other’ discipline into theories, concepts and
methods current in one’s own field are required for successful work in this
project.

The University of Oldenburg is an equal opportunity employer and is dedicated
to increasing the percentage of women in science. Therefore, equally qualified
female candidates will be given preference.

Applicants with disabilities will be preferentially considered in case of
equal qualification.

Please send your application including a cover letter, CV, list of potential
referees, links to recent publications and copies of certificates for academic
grades to Prof. Dr. Esther Ruigendijk, see mailing address below, or as an
email attachment to the application email below (application by email is
preferred). Prof. Esther Ruigendijk can be contacted for further questions
regarding the position. The application deadline is 25th October 2016.
