Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Université Paris Diderot (Paris 7) is
expecting – pending approval – to open a position at the rank of Assistant
Professor (Maître de Conférences - MCF) in Typology and Field Linguistics,
starting in Fall 2017. 

Candidates must show promise of strong scholarship, a good publication record,
and a commitment to excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will have
strong expertise in typology and first-hand experience in the description of
at least one underdocumented language. 

The candidate is expected to join one of two research groups : the Laboratoire
de Linguistique Formelle (LLF – http://www.llf.cnrs.fr) or the Histoire des
Théories Linguistiques group (HTL –
http://htl.linguist.univ-paris-diderot.fr/), and to take part in the
activities of the broader research network to which both belong, the LabEx
“Empirical Foundations of Linguistics” (EFL – http://www.labex-efl.org/). 

Teaching will involve graduate and undergraduate courses and graduate seminars
in typology, field methods, language documentation, and possibly other areas,
in the Linguistics department (http://www.linguist.univ-paris-diderot.fr/). A
working knowledge of French is expected. 

Salary is set in accordance with the French state-regulated public service
salary scale.

1. Qualification. 

All candidates (French and international) are required to have received the
“qualification” by the national committee (CNU – Conseil National des
Universités) before they can apply for a position. For the qualification
stage, candidates are invited to register online and submit their dossier
before October 25th, 2016 on the Galaxie website of the French "Ministère de
l'Enseignement Supérieur".

The position, if approved, will start on September 1st 2017. The website for
