Position Summary:

The University of Idaho invites applications for a 9-month Visiting Assistant
Professor or Lecturer of Applied Linguistics, with specialization in teaching
English to speakers of other languages. Applicants with a Ph.D. or who are ABD
by July 31, 2017 are encouraged to apply. Visiting Faculty customarily
indicates that the appointee holds a regular teaching or research position at
another institution. A visiting appointee who does not hold a professorial
rank elsewhere may be designated as a lecturer.

We seek to hire a person who has a strong background in TESL . Successful
applicants will have demonstrated an ability to teach introductory and
advanced linguistics courses, TESL methods, and linguistics for teachers. The
teaching load is 3-3, focused at the graduate and advanced undergraduate
levels.

The University of Idaho English Department will be recruiting for a
tenure-track position in the Spring of 2018 for a permanent position starting
in the Fall of 2018 and accepting this position would not preclude someone
from applying for the permanent position.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Ph.D. or ABD by July 31, 2017 in Applied Linguistics or Linguistics (or
related field), with specialization in teaching English to speakers of other
languages
- Demonstrated ability to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate level
TESL teacher preparation courses
- Ability to teach undergraduate courses in introduction to linguistics

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience working with an English language program
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching
- Excellent communication skills
- High-quality publications and/or other demonstrated scholarship within area
of specialization
