Description:

Adjunct Instructor – Rhetoric and Composition

Soka University of America is seeking a part-time instructor in rhetoric and
composition to teach one or two sections of communication skills for fall 2017
and spring 2018.  

The University:

SUA, located in Aliso Viejo, is a selective, liberal arts, residential
university. Advocating student-centered instruction, the university strives
for a faculty/student ratio of 1:10, and communication skills classes are
capped at 15. The curriculum at Soka was designed to provide a strong emphasis
on language and communication, and the University Writing Program emphasizes
writing across the curriculum and writing in the disciplines. Students earn a
BA in liberal arts, with elective concentrations in humanities, social and
behavioral sciences, environmental science, and international studies. 

Qualifications:  

Applicants should have formal training at the graduate level in rhetoric and
composition. An MA is required, and ABD status in rhetoric and composition is
preferred.  In addition, applicants should have at least 2 years of experience
teaching writing at the university or college level. This experience should
include significant interactions with nonnative speakers of English.
