Job description:

The appointment includes teaching and supervision in English linguistics and
language proficiency at the preparatory, first and second levels. The English
subject offers teaching both on campus and through online learning platforms,
and with advanced digital tools. The subject offers tailor-made teaching for
various occupational groups as well as academic preparatory courses. Teaching
in the Teacher Education and language-didactic supervision are included. The
appointment also includes teaching in the Non-fiction Translation Master
Programme between English and Swedish, as well as other programmes in which
the English subject is involved. Teaching English for academic studies in
international Master programmes is also included. Moreover, the English
subject offers third-cycle courses and study programmes, and is involved in
academic writing at all educational levels.

The appointment includes research, course development and administration. The
Department of Languages has a strong focus on international publications,
international research contacts and applications for external funding. The
applicant is therefore expected to participate actively in the research
environments at the faculty. The linguists at the department are currently
involved in major research environments such as digital humanities and
educational linguistics. The applicant is also expected to participate in
internal and external work at the department, including administrative tasks.
Through the Language Teacher Network we contribute to the university’s
collaboration with society. The applicant is expected to spend the main part
of their working hours at the department.

Requirements:

To be qualified for the appointment as a senior lecturer, the applicant must
have demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD or have the
corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is
of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will
involve (Higher Education Ordinance, chapter 4, section 4). Appointment
procedures at Linnaeus University specify that teaching expertise includes
planning, implementing and evaluating teaching, as well as supervision and
examination. The applicant must have documented experience of teaching at the
university level. The applicant must also have documented academic competence
and cooperation skills.
