Meeting Description:

The topicality of the main guidelines of the conference is preconditioned by
social relevance of harmonious intercultural communication, the necessity of
reflection over its principles and specific peculiarities of representation in
different discourse practices. Communication competence, and tolerance as one
of its features, is claimed to be the fundamental principle of interaction in
multicultural society. The competence is made up by intercultural
communication skills, awareness and understanding as regards cultural and
foreign socio-cultural specific features. The proposed scientific event is
intended to shift the focus from interpreting intercultural communication in
the light of passive tolerance, namely endurance, to the competence aspect,
which presupposes the development and introduction of communicative
interaction principles at individual and institutional levels. The proposed
interpretation provides an experimental site for scientific discussion of
specialists from different fields of the Humanities: journalists, teachers,
political scientists, translators, philologists and others.

The development of preventive measures against aggression and intolerance as
regards the features, which are not typical of one’s culture and outlook, can
be carried out by means of theoretical reflection of communication processes
represented in different discourses, as well as by practice-oriented studies
of harmonious interaction.
