Subject Language(s): English (eng)
                     Spanish (spa)

Call Deadline: 15-May-2017

Meeting Description:

The first International Seminar on CLIL methodology in multilingual contexts
has been organised with a view to sharing and debating about recent
initiatives and different perspectives in the field. On the one hand, the
co-existence of different languages in any one region and the benefits to be
obtained from not only being exposed to one or more regional language(s), but
also from learning a lingua franca which allows for increased mobility and
effective global communication are among topics addressed in this seminar. On
the other hand, and with a view to bringing together both theory and practice,
the latest advances in research into CLIL methodology are focused on and
actual teaching practice in the classroom and student-centred perspectives in
CLIL are proposed. Lastly, it is hoped that the seminar will provide a
stimulating setting for the discussion of new theoretical and practical ideas
which it is hoped will emerge among the seminar participants —practising
teachers, teacher trainers and future CLIL teachers, among others.

Call for Posters:

There are two ways to participate in the seminar: as an attendee only or as an
attendee with poster presentation. The certificate given at the end will
specify the type of participation chosen.

Panels:

The aim of the seminar is to provide a forum for establishing a dialogue
between different theoretical proposals and the practical reality of 'doing'
CLIL. With this in mind, proposals are invited for posters which may come
under one of the following categories:

- CLIL methodology in the classroom
- Assessment: innovative proposals/new initiatives
- Adapting the curriculum for CLIL teaching
- Materials development
- Using ICT in CLIL
- Learner differences in multicultural contexts: multiple intelligences
- CLIL Teaching using any other languages
- Other topics related to CLIL research or classroom experiences

Proposal Submissions: Posters:

Poster proposals will be reviewed by the scientific committee and a prize will
be awarded to the best poster in each category. In addition, the four posters
judged to be the best will be included in the seminar publication.
The poster proposals will be submitted in the form of an abstract (minimum 300
words, maximum 400, without bibliography) in which the author(s) will describe
the study or experience to be displayed on the poster. The abstract should
contain the following information: title of the poster; author(s) and
affiliation; a short introduction; objectives; methodology (including
participants, materials, etc.); description of the experience or results of
the study.
The official languages of the seminar are Valencian, Spanish and English.
Contributions in any of these languages will be considered.
Proposals should be sent to CLILmultilingual at upv.es specifying the topic under
which it is to be categorized.
Once author(s) have been notified of acceptance of their proposals, they
should follow the instructions below with regard to the format and design of
the posters.

Posters:

Posters will be DIN A0 and have a vertical orientation, and the following
details should be included:
- Short title
- Name(s) and affiliation
- General and specific objectives
- Description of experience or research study
- Results or expected results and/or applications

The following points are also recommended when designing posters:
- Do not include too much information
- Use graphs, figures, photos, etc.
- Use a relatively large font
- Use colours to distinguish the different parts or sections and to highlight
most relevant aspects of the study or experience.
The author(s) will bring the poster on the day of the seminar with the exact
format and specifications as required (A0 vertical).
