Meeting Description:

The Language and Communication Lab (LCL) is pleased to invite you to the

of gestures and prosody. The workshop will provide ''food for thought'' on
both practical and theoretical issues on gesture and speech production and
perception studies.

The workshop will consist of practice sessions on:

(1) Facial Action Coding System (FACS) (tutorial)
(2) Using PsychoPy to test perception patterns of L2 speakers (tutorial)
(3) Coding gestures: issues in terminology (Lab practice)

And theoretical presentations on:

(1) Multimodal communication of certainty, uncertainty and lack of knowledge
(2) Compositionality of emotion expression in gestures, body and face
(3) Bimodal cohesion: coding sequences of gesture.

Invited Speakers:

Emanuela Campisi (University of Catania)
Federica Cavicchio (University of Haifa, University of Padova)
Paolo Mairano (University of Torino)
