Meeting Description:

The Foreign Language Summit 2017 (FLS2017) is the first conference on foreign
language education jointly organized by the University of the Philippines
Diliman Department of Linguistics and Department of European Languages.

This summit aims to gather foreign language teachers and students, as well as
language education and linguistics researchers from all over the country to
discuss various research, and share their experiences in the field of foreign
language teaching and learning.

The main goal of this year's summit is to find out the current state of
foreign language education in the Philippines, in all levels of education, in
order to identify problems that educators and students face which need to be
addressed.


Call for Papers:

FLS2017 is currently accepting abstracts for theoretical, data-driven, and/or
practical research on foreign language teaching and learning, with themes
including, but not limited to:

 - Pedagogy 
 - Teaching Filipino as a foreign language
 - Acquisition and learning 
 - Testing and evaluation
 - Motivation and anxiety 
 - Framework and standards
 - Phonology, morphology, syntax 
 - Curriculum and materials development
 - Semantics, pragmatics, discourse analysis 
 - Administration and management
 - Reading and writing 
 - Language technology
 - Listening and speaking/communication 
 - Teacher education
 - Translation 
 - Multilingual/multicultural education

Submission Guidelines:

- Abstracts may be in English or Filipino.
- Do limit the main body of your abstract/s to 500 words. This word count does
not include the title of your abstract nor the list of references.
- Microsoft Word .doc file format for abstracts is preferred. However, you may
submit your abstract in PDF file format if it contains special characters or
symbols.
- Email your abstract/s to up.foreignlangsummit at gmail.com.
- Please type as the subject heading of your email [FLS2017 Abstract
Submission].
- Please write your full name, affiliation, position, and contact numbers in
the body of your email.
- Please submit your abstracts on or before 15 May 2017.
