Meeting Description:

The Spanish Association for Corpus Linguistics (AELINCO) and the Organising
Committee are delighted to release this invitation to participate in the X
International Conference on Applied Linguistics and Corpora (CILC2018), which
will be held at the Faculty of Arts (Filosofía y Letras) of the University of
Extremadura (Cáceres, Spain) in May 2018 (9-11).

The theme of this edition—and the focus of some of the keynote addresses and
many other papers— will be “Corpus Linguistics for the Study of the Influence
of English on World Languages.” Thus, this edition of CILC constitutes an
ideal discussion forum for the analysis of the methods, tools, and—above
all—resources that Corpus Linguistics has made available to scholars and
researchers whose interest lies with the indelible mark that English is
leaving on practically every language in the world—many of which will
hopefully be represented in this edition.

Keynote Speakers:

The following keynote speakers have already been confirmed:
Gisle Andersen (Norwegian School of Economics, Bergen, Noruega)
https://www.nhh.no/en/employees/faculty/gisle-andersen/

please contact us at cilc2018 at unex.es.

We hope to see you in Cáceres,
The Organising Committee of CILC2018.

Call for Papers:

Furthermore, as it has been customary in previous editions of CILC and in
accordance with the AELINCO mandate, the conference welcomes other
contributions that may enhance and deepen our understanding of Corpus
Linguistics. These should fit into any of the nine thematic panels:

1. Corpus design, construction and typology
2. Corpus-based discourse analysis and literary analysis
3. Grammatical studies and corpora
4. Corpus-based lexicology and lexicography
5. Corpora, contrastive studies and translation
6. Corpus-based variation and language change
7. Corpus-based computational linguistics
8. Corpora, language acquisition and language teaching
9. Corpus linguistics and languages for specific purposes

Paper Proposals:

The Organising Committee welcomes proposals for papers (20 minutes), posters
(A1 format), workshops, seminars, and roundtables that pivot around any of the
thematic panels listed above.

You may submit your proposals (either in English or Spanish) starting on the
date that the Conference website will be fully functional (October 1, 2017)
until the final deadline (January 30, 2018). Proposals must not exceed 500
words (bibliography excluded) and should be submitted through the EasyChair
platform to the relevant panel, where it will be reviewed. Each proposal can
only be submitted to one panel.
